Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When using compiz applications scroll a tad more slowly. You can notice it a little while using ccsm. Scroll using the mouse wheel or another tool. Then switch to metacity (metacity --replace). Scroll will feel much faster and in fact is.

Not much of a problem with apps like ccsm, but it affects firefox greatly. It is to the point where I can mouse wheel a whole bunch, wait a few seconds and finally the scrolls will be executed.

Using Ubuntu Hardy and Firefox 3 beta 4.

For me...
The slow scrolling affects only firefox and compiz is NOT installed (although it did also happen with compiz installed)
The slow scrolling is in gmail. It takes about a second and is jerky to scroll to the bottom of the page to see emails.

I'm seeing this on Hardy Beta.

I can confirm this. On Hardy, all applications scroll somewhat slower (except Firefox 3, where it gets that slow that it's nearly unusable) if I have Compiz enabled (both with Emerald or Metacity). Disabling Compiz they work OK again.

This doesn't seem to be a composite problem, but rather a Compiz one, as using xcompmgr (in a GNOME/Openbox session) doesn't cause this issue.
