Bug Description

I am using Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS, the kernel version is 6.2.0-36-generic. My CPU is Intel® Core™ m3-7Y30.
The intel-microcode_3.20230214.0ubuntu0.22.04.1_amd64 works fine on my computer, but the computer cannot boot if I update the package to later versions (3.20230808.0ubuntu0.22.04.1 and 3.20231114.0ubuntu0.22.04.1). There is no output on the screen, it is light but just purely black. In case the computer fails to boot, I have to boot into the recovery mode (the hardware GPU was disabled and CPU graphic driver was used in this case), and fall back the intel-microcode package to version mentioned at the beginning (3.20230214.0ubuntu0.22.04.1).

@Alex Murray (alexmurray)
thanks for your help with the command, I have run it in the terminal.
But the currently installed version (3.20230214.0ubuntu0.22.04.1) of the intel-microcode package is fine, the problem is with the updated versions of the package (3.20230808.0ubuntu0.22.04.1 and 3.20231114.0ubuntu0.22.04.1), and my computer cannot boot with these versions.

Thanks - yes I understand. This is the first such report that I have seen of problems with these newer microcode versions against this particular CPU - looking at the upstream Intel issue tracker https://github.com/intel/Intel-Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-Files/issues I can't see anything similar either. Unfortunately there is not a lot we can do in Ubuntu about this as this package is provided as a binary blob direct from Intel.

Out of interest, can you please ensure you have the latest BIOS updates installed for your machine and see if this helps?

Also you could try reporting this issue upstream directly with Intel to see if they can provide any assistance.

@Alex Murray (alexmurray)
thanks for your help. The vendor (Xiaomi) of my laptop does not release any BIOS update for this model. I have reported the issue to the github link.
