€ and $ keys don't work

I have an Acer 1680-series laptop, with € and $ keys above the keypad.

The € key generates e033
The $ key generates e034

(both according to the kernel log)

Does xkeyboard-config handle similar symbols on other keyboards?

No, because we'd have to add custom keycodes.

Hmm. It's difficult to add them to hotkey-setup, because they don't correspond
to actual keys - $ and € require modifiers.

I need a remapper-daemon that can handle modifiers to deal with the special keys on the Toshiba tablets. That would take a key-combo and produce a single keypress; but I suppose it could also take a single keypress and produce a key-combo.

Whilst you /can/ output the sequence Shift-Down, Four-Down, Four-Up, Shift-Up this might interfere with other keys if somebody is holding a shift down already... and is only going to work with keymaps where [$] is on the same key as [3].

It needs is being able to output a symbol directly and that means assigning a new keycode.

Can we just make them load GnuCash...
