Bug Description

I'm not sure that this is the right package. Please move if necessary. (Bug reporting guidelines mention syslinux, but that doesn't seem to be used on this ISO.)

On booting Budgie 23.10 (20231008.1), the ISO is booting directly to desktop and not to a screen with "install" and "try" buttons. Install has to be started from the menu. (Install works correctly.)

syslog from live ISO is attached.

Well there is a question!

If ubuntu boots straight to the live session then its a qa tracker test case issue.

If it doesn't then I'm guessing some-sort of livecd-rootfs issue maybe.

Certainly the legacy ISO has a try/install screen.

@fossfreedom how was the budgie installer in the past? Since the Ubuntu one was always booting to the try/install screen - was it the same for the Budgie installer as well? Is this a regression from previous builds?

As I mentioned - ubiquity also booted to a try/install screen.

With the new flutter installer I have only ever seen it boot to a live
session. I haven't looked at Ubuntu itself to see what it does. If
Ubuntu also boots to a live session to perform the install then its a
test case issue - the test cases on the QA tracker will need to be
updated for the new installer.

Cheers for confirming - fixed via budgie-desktop-environment v0.20.8 and the inclusion of a suitable systemd unit to invoke the new installer with the --try-or-install command-line option
