i am running linux mint 4, pidgin version 2.2.1, and this seems to be affecting me as well - either this or the other msn "nudge" vulnerability persists on mint's pidgin setup. i had network troubles any time pidgin successfully connected to an msn messenger account. pretty sure i eliminated ever other possible cause - the msn account on pidgin reliably replicates the issue and freezes network traffic.

Ok I am getting this problem as well, pidgin works great untill I try and add an msn account.
For some reason while running it with this command

G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck --leak-check=full --num-callers=40 --log-file=valgrind.log.pidgin pidgin

It did not crash

there is no indication that the new comments are the same bug, you should open new bugs about those

Sorry, but I am new to bug reports, and I thought that my bug was related
to that one. My Pigdin crashed with no apparent reason, as it was in
background mode with my MSN and Google Talk accounts logged in. Since I
could not read the crash report (its window closed just after it sents the
report), I thought that it could be the same bug.

By the way, my Pidgin installation is running just fine by now, maybe the
bug that crashed my program was corrected in one of the recent updates. So
I won't submit a new bug.

Thanks for the attention and sorry about my poor English,

Tomé
