Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic

Ubuntu: 8.04 (Hardy)
Package: linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic
Version: 2.6.24-12.22

Easiest to see here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?searchon=contents&keywords=cx88-alsa&mode=filename&suite=hardy&arch=i386

/lib/modules/2.6.24-12-generic/kernel/drivers/media/video/cx88/cx88-alsa.ko is not there.

Moving from linux-image-2.6.24-11-generic to linux-image-2.6.24-12-generic, it seems cx88-alsa.ko was removed...was this intentional? If so, what is the intended source of the driver? Attempting to build from kernel source, it seems that CONFIG_VIDEO_CX88_ALSA is no longer accepted.

Seconding this issue.

This module is needed for the HD-5500 analog audio output. The card is recognized but no module to use it with.

Moved cx88 module build into LUM in order to allow compilation of cx88-alsa. This depends on kernel headers package version 2.6.24-14.25 or higher.

Now that this driver is in the kernel a lot of people are having kernel oopses during startup.

These are all related to this issue. I think the version of v4l drivers you have are buggy for the cx88-alsa, perhaps that's why they were excluded before.
