I had this exact bug happen on my AMD64 system. It happened while inserting a blank disc. Hope this helps!

Ahhh, thank you, although I can't fix it (kernel panic on startup) I
will keep it in mind

I got the same problem this morning when I removed a 4 gig flash drive.
