Bug Description

When I first installed Hardy alpha 4, fonts looked fine, the default hinting was ok.

I update my box on a daily basis, and a couple of days ago, things went wrong:

- generally hinting became worse

- no hinting for KDE apps at all

- text in Firefox is squeezed vertically

I attach a screenshot. Everything looks now utterly ugly on my desktop.

Hi, look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/language-selector/+bug/199557 , maybe your bug is a duplicate of it. There is also a workaround (downgrading a package.)
