Bug Description
Binary package hint: ltp
Feature Freeze Exception request:
The LTP packages in Hardy should be updated.
Reason:
The current LTP version in Hardy is from 2006-09-18. The latest version, from 2008-02-29, fixes a number of bugs and introduces hundreds of new tests which are applicable against a more modern kernel and Linux distribution. Such tests would be very useful to run against Hardy during its hardening/testing phases. Finally, the default run (runltp with no arguments) was broken in Hardy due to poor package installation. It is fixed in this new version. Note that the ltp package is not essential for Ubuntu operation, and nothing else depends upon it.
