GuestStore and Guest Data Publisher plugins needed

In testing new enhancements to guestStore on the VMware vsphere stack, an attempt to test with Ubuntu VMs ran into the problem that the OVT plugins for both

 * GuestStore (libguestStore.so)
 * Guest Data Publisher (libgdp.so)

are not available in the open-vm-tools/plugins/vmsvc directory.

The problem exists with:

    Ubuntu 20.04
     * open-vm-tools-desktop/focal-updates,focal-security,now
       2:11.3.0-2ubuntu0~ubuntu20.04.3 amd64 [installed]

   Ubuntu 22.04
     * open-vm-tools-desktop/jammy-updates,jammy-security,now
       2:11.3.5-1ubuntu4.1 amd64 [installed]

   Ubuntu 22.10 (beta)
     * open-vm-tools/kinetic,now 2:12.1.0-1 amd64 [installed,automatic]

When downloading "apt source open-vm-tools", the following lines can be seen in the "rules" file related to packaging of the open-vm-tools-sdmp packaging:

   mv debian/open-vm-tools/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/open-vm-tools/plugins/vmsvc/libguestStore.so debian/open-vm-tools-sdmp/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/open-vm-tools/plugins/vmsvc/
   mv debian/open-vm-tools/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/open-vm-tools/plugins/vmsvc/libgdp.so debian/open-vm-tools-sdmp/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/open-vm-tools/plugins/vmsvc/

Both the libguestStore.so and libgdp.so are intended and expected to be in the open-vm-tools package. These two plugins are part of the basic vmtoolsd service process.

Only the libserviceDiscovery.so plugin should be in the optional open-vm-tools-sdmp package.

This correction is needed in the existing packages - 11.3.0, 11.3.5 and 12.1.0

Accepted open-vm-tools into kinetic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/2:12.1.5-3~ubuntu0.22.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-kinetic to verification-done-kinetic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-kinetic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.
