Bug Description

Please help! I've posted this before, and some have suggested that it is not a Compiz problem. Terminal shows this:

$ compiz

Checking for Composite extension: present.
Comparing resolution (1024x768) to maximum 3D texture size (2048): Passed.
Checking for nVidia: present.

After Compiz attempts to load, the open windows on my screen change, and the min/max close buttons are missing...

Sounds like your missing some of the core plugins. Can you type the following from a terminal shell:

sudo aptitude reinstall compiz-fusion-plugins-main

If that fails, try replacing reinstall with install.

I will not have time to investigate this for a bit due to work. Instead, I
installed Sawfish as a window manager, and am using Xcompmgr and this
combination seems to work well on this very old computer. I'll report back
when I get time to try the suggestion.

Thanks for staying on top of this!
