Bug Description
Impact
------
Anyone who used GNOME Boxes prior to April 2022 will see the old Ubuntu logo when they try to create a new virtual machine in the app.
Similarly, the Fedora logo was updated in July 2021
Because GNOME Boxes currently doesn't offer a way to invalidate or expire the cache, we manually clear the logo cache with a script ran by Ubuntu's session-migration helper.
Test Case
----------
We need to simulate a machine that used GNOME Boxes prior to April 2022 to make this test case reproducible.
1. Download https:/
and store that file in ~/.cache/
2. Open the Boxes app.
3. Click the + button.
4. You will see the old round Ubuntu logo
5. Install the updated gnome-boxes
6. Log out then log back in.
7. Repeat Steps 2 and 3.
8. You will see the rectangle Ubuntu logo
What Could Go Wrong
-------------------
If there happens to be a machine that can receive Ubuntu updates like this one but is airgapped so that it can't download the new logo, it simply won't have an Ubuntu logo on that screen any more. Instead, it will show the fallback CD logo.
The session-migration helper is intended to only run once for a user when they log in. It will remove all the cached GNOME Boxes logos so that it can download the latest version of their logos.
Other Info
----------
I intended to release this before Ubuntu 22.04 LTS but didn't realize I hadn't done it in April.
