Bug Description

The varnish-modules source package fails to build only on armhf, succeeding on all other architectures.

Upgrading varnish to 7.1.0-6 (bug #1971504) makes varnish-vmod-digest uninstallable on all architectures, and causes an autopkgtest regression for varnish-modules on armhf (https://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/results/autopkgtest-kinetic/kinetic/armhf/v/varnish-modules/20220621_084835_7097a@/log.gz).

libvmod-re2 has always failed to build in Ubuntu on armhf, and in Debian on all architectures except amd64, arm64, ppc64, ppc64el and s390x. Starting with Ubuntu Kinetic the package fails to build on all architectures (see https://launchpad.net/~luis220413/+archive/ubuntu/test-builds/+packages) and tests fail on all architectures, due to a Varnish ABI change.

The build failure of the libvmod-re2 source package in Ubuntu 22.04 on armhf (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvmod-re2/2.0.0-1/+build/23161233) is due to a different issue, that I reported as https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1013871. This issue appears to be related to the bitness of the platform, and this is consistent with the build failing in Debian in all 32-bit architectures.

Ubuntu Package Archive Administrators, please remove the libvmod-re2 source package from the Ubuntu archive. The attached debdiff will make the varnish-modules source package not build on armhf.

The attachment "libvmod-re2.debdiff" seems to be a debdiff. The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. If the attachment isn't a patch, please remove the "patch" flag from the attachment, remove the "patch" tag, and if you are member of the ~ubuntu-sponsors, unsubscribe the team.

Please do not mix removal requests for the archive team in with other bug reports. This makes it very difficult to identify what is being requested.

I have confirmed that libvmod-re2 FTBFS with current varnish in kinetic-proposed and has no reverse-dependencies. Removing.

Removing packages from kinetic:
 libvmod-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic
  varnish-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic amd64
  varnish-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic arm64
  varnish-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic ppc64el
  varnish-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic riscv64
  varnish-re2 2.0.0-1 in kinetic s390x
Comment: FTBFS with varnish 7 and blocks transition, removed from Debian testing; LP: #1979893
1 package successfully removed.
