How do I confirm that this is the case? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/GNOME points to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/tree/master/elements/core which does not list it. It does not appear in the discourse discussion at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/scope-of-gnome-mru/18041/3. I see that there have certainly been microrelease updates of eds in stable Ubuntu releases in the past, but I don't see how it's covered by the current (known-incomplete) microrelease exception.

Steve, thank you for your thorough review.

The wiki link pointed to comment 3 on Discourse but it should be comment 28 so I've updated the link on the wiki page. evolution-data-server isn't part of GNOME "core" but it is part of "core-deps" (but several of the "core-deps" aren't even maintained by GNOME and fall outside the intent of Ubuntu's GNOME microrelease exception).

https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/scope-of-gnome-mru/18041/28
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-build-meta/-/tree/master/elements/core-deps

On the other hand, the evolution **app** isn't considered part of core GNOME currently nor is it formally included in the GNOME microrelease exception.

One more point: evolution-data-server does show up in the list that GNOME formally releases as part of GNOME 42
https://people.debian.org/~fpeters/gnome/debian-gnome-42-status.html
which pulls from
https://download.gnome.org/teams/releng/42.2/versions
which is built from
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/releng/-/blob/master/tools/versions-stable

It's (still 😠) not finalised, but the list in https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/scope-of-gnome-mru/18041/29 *does* include both e-d-s and evolution as a part of the GNOME MRE.

It would be nice if the MRE discussion got resolved (and I've added a comment), but based on history and the current state of that discussion I'm OK with accepting this as under the MRE - particularly since it looks like the existing package is going to lose functionality when Google turns off a network endpoint.

Chris Halse Rogers (raof) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello Nathan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted evolution-data-server into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-data-server/3.44.2-0ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-jammy. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
