I've just checked. This bug has been fixed upstream. I've merged the patch into Ubuntu's package.

Thomas, you must adjust Maintainer field accordingly to Debian Maintainer Specification (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianMaintainerField). Could you please attach a new debdiff and resubscribe u-u-s? Also, I saw you uploaded a new upstream version in Debian. Does it solve outstanding bugs reported in Ubuntu too? If so, you may consider to apply for a Feature Freeze exception (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FreezeExceptionProcess). Thanks!

Updated package as Luca said, attached the new .dsc, .diff.gz and debdiff.

The new version in Debian includes more changes and new features, I'd rather have the more stable 0.10.4 in Ubuntu Hardy and patch any bugs found there.

This bug was fixed in the package gpodder - 0.10.4-1ubuntu1

---------------
gpodder (0.10.4-1ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * Merge patch from upstream to fix problem with wrong error
    message (LP: #197256).
  * debian/control: Update Maintainer field as per spec.
