Bug Description

The corresponding kernel package (linux-raspi) was already renamed away from linux-raspi2; the same should happen for this firmware package.

Several suggestions have been made of how this should be accomplished, including adding it as a binary package to the linux-firmware source package. However, in the course of figuring out how to accomplish this move (which is complicated by the fact the package uses diversions, and will probably always need to), I think the simplest move at the moment is simply to introduce a new linux-firmware-raspi source package derived from this one, and follow the usual transitional package route of https://wiki.debian.org/RenamingPackages

Also affects pi-bluetooth as that package (and only that package) has a direct dependency on this one.

Note to self: remember to update the pi gadget to point to the correct package for extraction of bootloader.

This bug was fixed in the package pi-bluetooth - 0.1.18ubuntu1

---------------
pi-bluetooth (0.1.18ubuntu1) jammy; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release, 0.1.18
  * The new release moves hcitool before the bluetoothctl reset which
    addresses bthelper failing to start (LP: #1950061)
  * Fix journal warnings for incorrect substitutions (LP: #1944027)
  * Add man-pages for all included scripts
  * Depend on linux-firmware-raspi or linux-firmware-raspi2 to support rename
    (LP: #1950632)

Test builds of the linux-firmware-raspi package are now available from https://launchpad.net/~waveform/+archive/ubuntu/firmware -- any interested parties are welcome to test. Particularly interested in any upgrade failures (there are a lot of diversions that need re-pointing from linux-firmware-raspi2 to linux-firmware-raspi).

I've now successfully run tests upgrading the linux-firmware-raspi2 package to linux-firmware-raspi on several platforms. All seem happy to use wifi and reboot afterward, so I think this is good to go.

Damn, forgot the seed (didn't matter for jammy as the transitional package dealt with it, but it should be fixed for the next point release and needs fixing for kinetic).
