Bug Description

Hello, when I compiled lifeograph 2.0.2, I got a well-behaving application, but the preference dialog, when it is activated, can be puzzling for many people: there is no widget to close it, neither in the window's decoration, nor in the bottom, where an empty Gtk Button Box is invisible.

Here is a patch to add dismiss/Apply buttons. Unfortunately I am not proficient in Gtk3 coding, so I do not know how to make such buttons active.

Indeed, it is possible to close this dialog, but one must know that a right-click on the top of this dialog provides that feature.

Hello Georges,

Normally, the preferences dialog does show a close button in the title bar. Could you please specify the window manager you are using?

Dear Ahmet,

thank you for your fast answer; I am using Cinnamon:

------------------8<--------------------------------
$ ps ax | grep session| grep cinnamon
 980120 ? Ssl 0:03 cinnamon-session --session cinnamon
 980175 ? Ss 0:01 /usr/bin/ssh-agent cinnamon-session-cinnamon
------------------8<--------------------------------

Kernel is 4.19:
------------------8<--------------------------------
Linux georges 4.19.0-14-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.171-2 (2021-01-30) x86_64
+GNU/Linux
------------------8<--------------------------------

My system is freshly synchronized with Debian/bullseye, and I just built
the package with a command `gbp buildpackage --git-pbuilder` which builds
it inside a fresh 'unstable' chroot.

You can access the complete build tree (including the build log) at
https://georges.khaznadar.fr/docs/lifeograph/ and try the recently built
package from
+https://georges.khaznadar.fr/docs/lifeograph/lifeograph_2.0.2-0.1_amd64.deb

Please notice that the debian/ directory was borrowed from the debian
package managed by Laszlo Boszormenyi.

Best regards, Georges.

Hello Georges,

I tried to replicate this problem by installing Lifeograph on a virtual Linux Mint system (to get Cinnamon). For some reason I failed to install the dependencies to build from source and I resorted to Flatpak. Nevertheless, the close button was present in the preferences dialog despite the fact that Cinnamon was being used.

So, it looks more like a special issue related to your setup rather than a general Cinnamon problem.

Dear Ahmet, thank you for your tests.

Please feel free to close the bug report, as non-reproducible.

Best regards, Georges.
