Bug Description

I like very much exaile and I would like to use it as my primary music manager/player but it looks to miss a very important feature for me: Inserting a pause of a definable lenght between songs.
Presently I can only use the old xmms which has this feature, but is missing a lot of others :-(

In xmms the pause is implemented under preferences->options where I can choose a pause lenght between 0 and 900 seconds. When the option is active, at the end of a song the song time starts to displays a count-down timer. When it goes to zero the next song in the active playlist is played.
It will be very cool to have it in exaile!

Any chance to have it implemented in some way?

Whenever the playback engine gets its expected rewrite to support crossfading, this would be trivial to do (negative crossfade duration).

Changed in exaile:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
milestone: none → 0.3.x
status: New → Confirmed

What’s the status on this one? Allowing negative values for crossfade durations does not work, playback simply does not continue after a track has finished.

I still would like to have some way to stop playback after a track.

There’s no such feature yet. You should file a new report for this.
(And please keep the quotes to a bare minimum, thanks.)

I am also interested in the possibility to parameterize a user-defined pause between all songs.
This would avoid me a painful massive edition of my songs into Audacity to add some blanks )-:

OK, I'm reading in Launchpad that the fairly new status "Opinion" means : "there’s a difference of opinion around this bug and people are free to continue the discussion, but the project or package maintainers need to move to other work and are considering the issue closed."

So, as we are free to continue the discussion, let me add 2 points to support this bug :
- during a live event, depending on the kind of music (non electro-dance-techno) people want to relax their mind and their body between 2 dances. Starting over a demanding music right after another one is quite brutal, if there is no silence between each track
- there is no easy workaround to solve this problem :
+ checking thousands of recordings to determine the length of the ending pause to add is hard
+ adding a fake 1,5s of silence sound in the playlist between each song is painful and time consuming

Don't know where you found that definition of the Opinion status, but its pretty close to how i've been using it except for the bit about it being 'closed'. I use it instead of confirmed on Wishlist items to indicate that it is NOT a done deal that said wishlist item will be implemented, however some bugs (like this one) predate the addition of the Opinion status, so I have been reverting them to that as they come up. That is the only reason for my change, the actual effective status has NOT changed.

As for the request itself, I acknowledge that it could be useful, however we the developers have bigger issues to deal with and thus will not be working on this issue. You are welcome to submit a patch for review, however.
