Bug Description

préviously installed a hplip version 3.17.10. Works perfectly : printing and scanning
does not work.
installed on another PC with version 3.20.9 printing OK but no scan : command :

moi@le-meilleur:~$ scanimage -d "hpaio:/net/HP_Color_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M177fw?ip=192.168.10.10" >/tmp/xxx.png
Output format is not set, using pnm as a default.
scanimage: open of device hpaio:/net/HP_Color_LaserJet_Pro_MFP_M177fw?ip=192.168.10.10 failed: Error during device I/O

version 3.17.10 :seen MFP77 lines in /usr/share/hplip/data/models/model.dat
version 3.20.9 nothing

hp-doctors tells only not installed but it is (and of course don't work).

does Hplip no more shares MFP177 ?
will there be an upgradefor this printer/scanner ?
It'a a pity my MPF works wonderfully :-)

Thanks for your answer.

Hi,

Below is the workaround for this:

Can you please copy MFP177 support from 3.17.10 to 3.20.9 /usr/share/hplip/data/models/model.dat .
After that install plugin via $sh hplip-3.20.9.plugin.run and check scan.

thanks for your answer.

MFP177 support is present in model.dat.
a copy of this MF177 part is joined.

hplip-3.20.9 is installed on my computer.

Don't find hplip-3.20.9.plugin.run
not in install directory nor in /usr/share/hplip*.

Where can I get it ?

Thanks

MFPm177fw is still marked in models.dat as it doesn't need a plugin. It is the same for version 3.20.11. I believe the issue shouldn't be closed till the proper fix is applied.

Shivani,

would you mind fixing models.dat to reflect findings of this bug? Or you can just revert the change made in 3.20.6 as suggested in #1883898.

hello,
installed hplip 3.20.3-dfsg0-2 printer and scanner working perfectly.

Gone to the section concerning my printerin in models.dat but nothig fo
the scanner. A copy of this section is joined.

Is it necessary to change the version of HPlip as all works absolutely
fine ?

If absolutely necessary OK but i am afraid to do this ...

Claude
