Dave, please file a seperate bug report as yours doesnt match this one

leslie, There isnt anything i can do with this bug report at the moment can you please try to install libstdc++5 if that doesnt work please remove thunderbird and lightning fully including profiles and install our packages for both with the above libstdc++5.
What is the output of apt-cache policy thunderbird if nothing please try apt-cache policy mozilla-thunderbird.
What version of lightning is it please use above command replacing thunderbird with lightning-sunbird or lightning. Please post the full output of those commands before removing anything or trying anything

Changed in thunderbird:
status: New → Incomplete

Please test this with the unofficial 0.8 package we have for Hardy at this time at https://edge.launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive/
There isnt much change from upstream build and this one just a few patches got removed and some clean up that was applie upstream for most part. This package should be built in next 3+ hours.

John,
Ran apt-cache see below. Upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy Heron AMD64 at
weekend, run add-ons says lightning version 8 available for upgrade
tries to install says same as before not compatible with version
2.0.0.12 (20080227)
Also installed libstdc same result may try removing/installing.

mozilla-thunderbird:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 2.0.0.12+nobinonly-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
     2.0.0.12+nobinonly-0ubuntu1 0

Thanks

We dont have .8 in the official archives. We just built version 0.8 and posted it to PPA late last night, so if its telling you to upgrade you are using upstream 0.8 and we cant support it we can only support what we build, if you find same issue in 0.8 that we built than its gonna be a while but as i understand and this has not been confirmed as of this minute but i do have email out for responce from mozilla that sunbird upstream has been built on libstdc++5 where we have had ++6 in our archives for 2 releases (just so happens that it was when i started providing it for Ubuntu. Please post an upstream bug to ask them to build on ++6 instead but im fairly sure 0.8 was built on ++6 it built fine on asac's pc my pc and runs great on my pc.

This was fixed in sunbird version 0.8 in Intrepid and im backporting it to Hardy. However Gutsy will not see this fix.
