nautilus shows strange characters

Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

When trying to delete a file, if there's any condition that avoids it, for example protected media, the warning dialog shows strange character string instead of the file name.

Yes of course. This bug is related to bug 188734.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Insert a protected memory-card in a card reader. In my case it was a SD card in my laptop's internal reader. The card should be locked in order to not allow deletion of files.
2) Browse the contents of the card from a natilus window.
3) Try to move any file (DEL key) to the trash.

Nautilus will then warn against moving to the trash with the dialog shown in the attached screenshot.
