The attachment is a log of what happens when running ubuntu-bug which opens launchpad.net and asks for a login email and password, when entering the information, and clicking on login, it shows a pop up that asks if I want to save or open konqueror, instead of just opening a new window.

I can confirm this, but also for normal links.
Test case:
1. Go to http://www.google.de/
2. Click on any of the links
3. Instead of going to the link, a popups asks to save or open the html document
I've temporarily switched to Firefox as main browser, because of this - which started only a few days ago, not since 4.0 directly (in Hardy).

Changed in meta-kde:
status: New → Confirmed

How do you change the default browser in kde?

Harald, is this something for upstream/KDE?

Possibly. I think there is no default setting for the html mimetype which means it applies the "ask whether to save" and the "open in application" settings, which is actually the cause for this issue.

I've found a workaround for this bug in my Ubuntu Gutsy. To fix this bug, go to "File Associations" in "System Settings" . Select the "text" type. In the right pane, select "Show file in embedded viewer" instead of "Show file in separate viewer". Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/wahjava/2250232339/ .

Yes, that's the same workaround I've found/used. Luckily it's fixed in Hardy and will get into the Gutsy packages then, too, probably.

I'm attaching the debdiff for this fix, for reference.

This should already be available for Gutsy actually.

no it's not in gutsy for now and the workaround is not working for me. I cannot change the association of html file to be as "Show file in embedded viewer". In reality I can choose it but that does nothing and if I re-open konqueror configuration. The file association is going back to the default one.

I just test, just in case, if I change the complete "text" association and indeed it's working (after restarting konqueror) but not for html only.
