Bug Description

I have a dual monitor setup, with the external monitor defined as the "primary" one (and the laptop one secondary).
When using the Shift + PrtScr shortcut and choosing an area on the external monitor, the screenshot saved in ~/Pictures shows this area but on the _laptop_ screen.
(Choosing an area on the laptop screen works OK.)

I use the vanilla Gnome session (with Wayland), installed with apt.

[ Impact ]

gnome-screenshot takes a screenshot of the wrong screen

[ Test case ]

In dual monitor setup, use Shift+PrtScr to take a screenshot in an area in the external monitor.

The saved area should respect the one you selected

[ Regression potential ]

Screenshot or screencasting may have not espected behavior

Thank you for your bug report. Is the issue specific to wayland? does it work if you try under X?

Yes, I can confirm the bug happens only on Wayland.
Everything works fine under the standard "Ubuntu" session, or the "Gnome on
Xorg" session.
(I also noticed something strange under the "Ubuntu on Wayland" session,
wich might be related: I can screenshot the left dock and sometimes parts
the dock and an unfocused window, but never the focused/current/selected
window.)

Hello Guillaume, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mutter into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/3.36.2-1ubuntu1~20.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
