Hello Michael, please note that your logs include a lot of output like this:

[179938.301308] evbug: Event. Dev: input5, Type: 2, Code: 1, Value: 1

evbug can quite easily leak everything you type. I don't think that's what is going on in this case, the values don't seem to be varied enough to describe keypresses, but probably a joystick or something similar.

Whatever this is you probably want to turn it back off again.

Thanks

Michael, could you attach your /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-efi-amd64-signed.postinst to this bug report? I'm curious what happened here.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Seth, I was getting the same error on a Mate 20.04 daily build a few days ago. It looks like it was fixed in this patch dealing with the post install: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/473854613/grub2-signed_1.139_1.140.diff.gz
