ubuntu-xen-desktop will not install

This is on Hardy Heron. This is the error

ubuntu-xen-desktop:
 Depends: linux-xen but it is not installable

I'm not sure how to fix this.

Does multiverse is enabled on your machine? We have some components mismatch on Xen packages it seems.

uncomment the line with your cdrom in it. I think that may fix your problem. I'm not having this issue anymore.

Sorry, during installation ubuntu-xen-desktop I had problem with package xenman but not with linux-xen.

I resolved problem with xenman package but I went to http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/x/xenman/ and downloaded xenman_0.6-1ubuntu2_all.deb
And after installation I already see xenman in my package list. And I installed ubuntu-xen-desktop package successfully.

Very strange behavior of package installation system.

Even on packages.ubuntu.com pages it indicates that the dependences are broken. Is anyone looking into it? Also had the same problem with attempting to install dtc-xen. rpmstrap doesn't exist in the distro.

It seems that <b>xenman</b> has been renamed to <b>convirt</b>, although there is not yet a package in Hardy repositories, installation of convirt via <b>Method 1</b> seems to satisfy xenman dependencies when attempting to install ubuntu-xen-desktop.

## pre-requisite for convirt (the xenman replacement)
sudo apt-get install xen-utils-3.2

## I used my browser to download this .deb: convirt_0.8.2-3_all.deb

## from here: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/convirt/

## then I installed it with the GUI GDebi

## I have not tested this method, but I suppose you could use wget and aptitude from command line like this:

sudo apt-get install xen-utils-3.2

## note you will need to get the updated wget URL when the maintainers update the version
## visit here to do verify version: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/convirt/
## at the time of this writing, the following wget should get you the .deb
wget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/c/convirt/convirt_0.8.2-3_all.deb

sudo aptitude install convirt_0.8.2-3_all.deb

## then you can finally install ubuntu-xen-desktop as the above satisfies the xenman dependency
sudo aptitude install ubuntu-xen-desktop
