Bug Description
It seems to be a regression in Ubuntu 19.10.
It works well with Ubuntu 19.04.
I compared the behavior in both distros on the same HW.
Steps to reproduce:
* Download https:/
* Try to open the file in gedit
* Gedit isn't able to open it, see the performance bug #1850046
Expected result:
* You are still able to switch to another application using Alt + TAB or run new application using "Super + command"
Actual result:
* It's almost impossible, Gnome doesn't response on those keyboard shortcuts. It worked only once when I tested it.
* I noticed that the dialog "Text Editor not responding" appears in Ubuntu 19.10 after longer time than in 19.04. The buttons in it are not responding in 19.10 (in 19.04 they are)
Used HW and SW:
* HW: HP Envy 13 Skylake
* SW: Ubuntu 19.10, gnome-shell 3.34.1

DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.10

I don't agree it is a duplicate of the bug #505765.
Bug #505765 is an old bug in gedit happening in any distro whereas this bug #1850073 is a regression in recently released Ubuntu 19.10 (Gnome) and should be prioritized another way.
