Bug Description

[Impact]
There is a hidden category in the snap store called "ubuntu-firstrun" which shows appropriate snaps to show the user. This category was created after gnome-initial-setup had Snap support added to it and used the "featured" category.

[Test Case]
1. Open GNOME Initial Setup
2. Go to final page

Expected result:
Snaps are shown from the "ubuntu-firstrun" category.

Observed result:
Snaps are shown from the "featured" category.

[Regression Potential]
Very low. Just the name of the category is changed and has been in use since cosmic.

You can get the current contents of each category with:
$ snap find --section=featured
$ curl --unix-socket /run/snapd.socket http://localhost/v2/find?section=ubuntu-firstrun|jq '.result|.[].name'

Could you please double confirm for me that this is already 'fixed' for the devel release? Also, what about disco? I understand that gnome-initial-setup is only ran on first boot and since we won't have new installer images, the impact might be lower, but most people install with enabled download of updates - wouldn't that make them benefit from a fixed gnome-initial-setup package?

Anyway, despite those small questions I'd like answered, I'll accept the package into -proposed. But please follow up on those before we consider releasing the change to -updates.

Hello Robert, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-initial-setup into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-initial-setup/3.28.0-2ubuntu6.16.04.6 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

The category was changed in cosmic, so the change is present in both disco and eoan:

gnome-initial-setup (3.30.0-1ubuntu3) cosmic; urgency=medium

  * Populate featured snaps from ubuntu-firstrun category

Tested on a clean 18.04 VM and updated the proposed package. I now see the correct set of applications. Thanks!
