scroll wheel microsoft pro intellimouse not working

I bought a microsoft pro intellimouse for gaming. Everything works but the scroll wheel. The click of the scroll wheel does work. But the scrolling itself (Up and down) does not work.

I have tried it on OSX. It does work there.

xev does not show any output when scrolling.

What kernel are you on?

I had this problem on Arch Linux, and it was solved I think after upgrading from kernel 5.0 to 5.1. Also was not a problem on the previous LTS kernel: 4.19.

Scrolling was not totally absent, it was I think 120 clicks of the scroll wheel would cause one scroll event. So if you scrolled a *lot* you would see one scroll event every 120 clicks of the wheel.

I'm still having an issue though where if I scroll fast, not as many scroll events are produced as would be expected, meaning I have to intentionally scroll slowly if I want to scroll a long distance.

I indeed fixed my problem by upgrading my kernel. I didn't really check if it registered everything. But it's working good enough that i haven't noticed anything not working correctly.
