gnome panel disappears

Bug Description

After shutting down and restarting it can sometimes happen that the gnome panels, including all the applets, become invisible. They are still there: you can hover your mouse over them and see the effects (dropdown menus etc...). To see the panels again, you have to change random settings in the compiz advanced effects configurator.

This all happens in Ubuntu 7.10

Thank you for your bug report. Could you attach your .xsession-errors when getting the issue and a screenshot?

I will do so when it happens again. But it happens at the most random
intervals so can't tell you when with certainty
