Bug Description

Dear MG5/MA5 teams,

Instead of "install MadAnalysis5", I "set madanalysis5_path /xxx/madanalysis5"
to use the one I directly installed from the MA5 launchpad.

But, the MA5 run fails as

INFO: MadAnalysis5 now running the 'analysis1' analysis...
INFO: Follow Madanalysis5 run with the following command in a separate terminal:
INFO: tail -f /Users/mawatari/work/MG5_aMC_v2_6_5/PROC_sm_0/Events/run_01/tag_1_MA5_analysis1.log
WARNING: MadAnalysis5 failed to run the commands for task 'analysis1'. Madanalys5 analysis will be skipped.

"tag_1_MA5_analysis1.log" just says:

Executing the commands from the script
...
ma5>import /Users/mawatari/work/MG5_aMC_v2_6_5/PROC_sm_0/bin/internal/ufomodel

A strange thing which may be related with is that, after this failure, a manual MA5 run "./bin/ma5" always asks me to compile again as
"MA5: => System configuration has changed since the last use. Need to rebuild the library."

any idea?

thanks,
Kentarou

affects: mg5amcnlo → madanalysis5

Hi Kentarou,

I need to upgrade the madanalysis-madgraph interface to make it compliant with v1.7. If you manually set the path to a recent madanalysis5 version (which is what you did, I imagine), crashes could be expected.

I am fixing the interface but the fix may not be out before the end of the week due to other duties. I will let you know.

Cheers,

Benj

Hi Kentarou,

I have just updated the MA5-MG5 interface (finally!). It is sufficient to reinstall it from the mg5_aMC CLI (by typing 'install MadAnalysis5') and everything should work out of the box. I have also upgraded the MadAnalysis 5 version that is downloaded by HEPToolsInstaller. It is now v1.8.5 (that includes your request concerning the y-axis range).

I have made tests with mg5_aMC v2.6.6 and everything seems OK. Please do not hesitate to reopen the ticket if needed.

@Olivier: I cc you for information. You however don't have to do anything from the mg5_aMC standpoint.

Cheers,

Benj

Dear Benjamin,

I was wondering if this bug persists on some systems.
I am able to install MA5 on my local system (through mg5), but cannot do so on a cluster (both independently and not).

In particular, it fails in one of the tests

MA5: Component 7/11 - test program: interface to Fastjet
MA5: - Cleaning the project before building the test program ...
MA5-DEBUG: LogFile: /users/h2/galon/Work/ML_Higgs_Production/MG5_aMC_v2_6_6/HEPTools/madanalysis5/madanalysis5/tools/SampleAnalyzer/Test//mrproper_fastjet.log
MA5-DEBUG: Makefile: Makefile_fastjet
MA5-DEBUG: Command: make mrproper --file=Makefile_fastjet
MA5: - Compiling the source files ...
MA5: - Linking the test program ...
MA5-ERROR: impossible to link the project. For more details, see the log file:

I can attach a full log if necesasry.
