Bug Description

The icon for the blank cd appears twice on the Lubuntu 18.04 desktop after cd insertion & automount. Ejecting the cd from pcmanfm removes both icons from desktop. Apparently erroneous automount seems to interfere with burning data to the cd with xburn. This bug appears in both 32-bit and 64-bit variants of Lubuntu 18.04.

I expect to view the icon of only one blank cd per cd/dvd drive on the Lubuntu desktop.

I booted up Lubuntu 18.04 (x86_64) LTS and inserted a blank dvdr & two folder-icons appeared titled "Blank CD-R Disc" appeared, plus a option-dialog titled "Removable media is inserted" asking if I want to open in Xfburn or File.Manager.

Ideally there would be a single "Black CD-R Disc" icon on the screen, yes it's a bug, but a minor & COSMETIC bug (at least visually) in my opinion. I've attached my screenshot, property windows for each 'Blank CD-R Disc' window visible plus the menu it offered me. I got the same results as Glenn reports.

Glenn noted it "seems to interfere with burning data to the cd with xburn". I did not burn the disc so did not verify this, but just ejecting the blank disc caused both "Blank CD-R DIsc" icons on my desktop to disappear, re-closing the cd/dvd tray on my machine did not cause these icons to reappear, and it LOOKED liked XFBurn would operate correctly (sorry I don't have an unused dvdrw to test this). This may be a work-around (ie. simply open the cd/dvd tray & re-close).

If you don't mind Glenn, can you test the 'open & re-close' tray performs the same for you, and is the operation still interfered with as your report?
With thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris, thanks for your interest. First, a family emergency just popped
up that will require all my time for about the next week, so there's that.
Secondly, 'open & re-close' tray function appears to work properly with
pcmanfm; what does not seem to work properly is xfburn writing correctly to
the CD. Using my 32-bit notebook & Lubuntu 18.04.1 + updates, I attempted
to make an audio CD-R with 8 tracks but failed to complete the burns for 2
CD-R's, even thought the audio files are fine playing with VLC from the
HDD. Next, I tried burning the same audio tracks with xfburn to an audio
CD-R on my 64-bit Lubuntu 18.04.1 + updates notebook; this time the CD burn
completed but the audio tracks have a number of 'skips' in the audio. This
may very well be an issue with xfburn, but since the initial indication of
something out of the ordinary is with pcmanfm, I thought it might be some
kind of CD mounting or dependency issue in pcmanfm.

Thanks Glenn.

(I looked in my car and it's CDR was unreadable to decided to write a replacement for it)

I booted up 18.04 on my hp dx6120mt (mini-tower, pentium 4 dual core, 3gb, winfast clone of nvidia 7600gt) -- the specs are irrelevant but its an old box used in QA-testing x86 (it won't run x86_64) and will mean something to me.. I dist-upgraded then rebooted..

Yes XFBurn & blank disc was different in this box to the d755 (x86_64 on my prior comment), and the ejecting disc & closing door was just annoying (more icons of 'Blank CD-R Disc' & pop-ups each time I didn't get on x86_64).

I gave up trying to write using XFBurn, even tried writing in Brasero - which got further but failed too. In this case it could be this hardware (I've never written a cd/dvd with it; the box was salvaged from a recycle pile for QA-testing purposes which hasn't involved writer before..) In my case I can't rule out my hardware, but didn't see any obvious issues other than yes x86 does perform differently to x86_64.

(I'll write more when I have more.)

Lubuntu 18.04.4 QA-test install on hp dx6120mt (box mentioned in last comment)

I didn't realize there was anything in cd/dvd tray except post-boot after install I noted 2x "Blank CD-R Disc" icons on desktop on first login. I expected tray to be empty but it did contain a blank CD-R (possibly b/c of last comment) so the issue still occurs (appearing on desktop anyway; since my focus currently is install I'm just noting the double appearance here; which possibly occurred on 18.04.3 too)

Thanks for the update and the confirmation. Seems to be related to Bug 1858670 which although filed under 'xfburn' package, seems to have the same symptoms and possibly the same cause.
