Bug Description

I have an external usb hdd here (exactly this one: http://fukato.de/download/pdf/fu_dbr_gigacask35_dgb.pdf) wich is running well under windows (I really dont like to say that). But under Ubuntu it isnt working with usb2.0
I have read older entries here and all over the internet, this bug exist until 2004! How can that be?

The only way to get this device working is to unload the usbdriver:

sudo modprobe -r ehci_hcd
and to add a line to the blacklist.

I hope it will be fixed soon. I am keen to get Ubuntu running in all companies I work with, but that kind of bugs doesnt really assists.
Attached the log files.

Really nice is also that adding an entry like "blacklist ehci_hcd" in /etc/modeprobe.d/blacklist has absolutly no affect. Shouldnt it be so that this module should not be loaded yet?

Really nice...really....I think I got the answere why the blacklist doesnt work!
The gnome session "energie managment" causes that the integrated webcam and the externe USB HDD doesnt work. Dont know what it is doing.
If I stop it from loading at login everything is fine. Everything except of that I cant shutdown the System because the button doesnt work anylonger. After clicking the bottung gnome hangs up.

Please fix it

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10?
