Ubuntu Live session requires login

Can you please check / post your journal (journalctl -b 0; remove any private information). I suspect this is a duplicate of bug #1792932 - i.e. X crashes when starting the live session and restarts successfully.

I only get login screen when selecting "Try Ubuntu without installing" from boot menu. If I boot without selecting any options - I land on installer where I choose "Try Ubuntu" and it goes straight to desktop, without displaying login.
Yes, it was actually https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1792932 - got same error messages in log.
