Bug Description

Binary package hint: konqueror

Troubles browsing Gmail with Konqueror are well known.
Identifying Konqueror as Mozilla or Firefox is not a fully solution, because there are some Gmail features which continue not working.
For example the "Quick Contacts" list at left bar, which works with Internet Explorer and Mozilla browsers but not with Konqueror identified as one of them.
Please see the two screen shots below, one made using Konqueror and other using Firefox.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I am now testing the latest Kubuntu development release: "Intrepid ibex", which comes with KDE 4.1.0 by the moment.
Current Konqueror version is 4:4.1.0-0ubuntu2.
At this point of development, Konqueror present multiple problems browsing Gmail webmail, including the issue I originally reported here.
I think most of this issues should be fixed soon by upstream.

See KDE bugs:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165158

May be Canonical should try talk with Google, in order to fix all these issues.

---------------
kubuntu-default-settings (1:8.10-6) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Make Konqueror not identify as firefox, so that GMail directs to the HTML
interface, which can be rendered properly. (LP: #256039, #178827)
  * Initialise Java properly. (LP: #138736)

  [ Jonathan Riddell ]
  * Turn on cover switcher in kwinrc

The issue is with the KDE javascript engine (KJS) which resides in kdelibs.

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. But don't worry! This issue is being tracked by the KDE developers at: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165158
Once fixed in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the fix is in in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!
