Bug Description

I have a HP Laserjet 6L connected to the parallel port of an Sparc Ultra 5. This configuration works correctly using the latest Debian installation, but does not work with the latest gutsy build so I know it is not a hardware problem. I am fully up to date ( Dec 26/07) with all packages. The cups web interface does not report any existing printers, yet it is detected at least on startup. I hope this helps, it is a major showstopper for me.

-----------------------------
I have googled around and read through https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems, (app-armour doesn't seem to apply to the sparc64 server version) but I am really stuck with this one and am looking for something reasonable to try. What is frustrating is that this did actually work with debian.

I have a similar problem with HP LaserJet 6L printer on x86 machine. It simply does not work and it does not even print a test page or anything. I use Xubuntu and I used system_config_printer.py to add the printer and configure it.

Unfortunately, I never got any resolution to the problem and couldn't afford to be without a printer anymore, (I only saw your post after the fact) so I ditched my 10 year old Laserjet6L and purchased a new stand-alone Laserjet 3055 I could plug into the network and forget about.
