Bug Description
While upgrading to 7.10 from 7.04, I got this message:
"Getting upgrade prerequisites failed
The system was unable to get the prerequisites for the upgrade. The upgrade will abort now and restore the original system state.
Please report this as a bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/
Something similar had happened when trying to download updates. I go a failed to fetch update message then but if I tried again it would continue where it had left off as it had downloaded the files to the temp folder. I went to software sources and chose the best and fastest server and the updating hasn't had a problem yet. While updating I usually get around 50 kb\sec but upgrading only gets me 10 or so kb\sec. I tried upgrading again and again to see if it would pick up from the temp folder and it got a bit further but then gets stuck while "fetching file 1 of 2" and every time it starts file 1 of 2 all over again and can't finish it. So either Ubuntu has a problem with patience or the server keeps resting itself or something.

Thanks for helping!
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Thanks in advance.
