Bug Description

web client 3.0.9 - The XUL client allowed staff with System Administrator permissions to change the owning library of materials. The web client does not. Circ staff at our branches need to be able to change owning library and we don't want to give them cataloging permissions. Can we add permission to change the owning library to System Administrator?

Diane,

Can you tell me how staff previously changed the owning library of materials in the xul client without editing the copy?

FWIW - the permissions available to a particular group are usually locally configured, but I'm trying to get a handle on your workflow to see why something might have changed between xul and the web client.

Hi, Kathy -

In XUL, scan in Item Status, choose to Edit Item Attributes, change the
owning library in the copy editor.

In Webby, scan in Item Status, choose Edit Item, Show Volume/Copy Details,
can't change the owning library.

Does this help?

Thank you.

I'm not sure this is a permissions issue. I am a supercat and cannot edit the owning library in the web client copy editor. You have to transfer the copy/vol. I thought I had opened a bug report about it but cant find it. I can edit in the XUL client edit item attributes

I take that back. I just tested -- I can change the owning library but you have to do so in edit volume and not in the copy editor

Yes, I thought there was an existing bug on this too.

Oh, my. We sure don't want to have to follow several steps to change the
owner. Kathy Lussier is also looking into this. She asked me for more
specifics so I sent screen shots of the XUL copy editor and the web copy
editor.

I didn't find one but if you do, merge the two reports. Since I began using
Webby 3.0.9 last week, I have found five circulation bugs. Three were
previously reported. I added notes to those bug reports and created two new
bug reports.

Thank you!

It is against PINES policy for anyone other than a trained cataloger to make these kinds of changes to item attributes, so we would prefer that the permission not be out of the box for non-cataloging staff. There were several admin positions that initially did not have cataloging permissions out of the box because of those policies. This may have been one of those that had cataloging permissions added later.
