Bug Description

Latest pvbnew nightly crashes on startup. A segfault core is attached. I'll build a debug version from source shortly to try to debug further.

wxWidgets 3.0.4 Unicode and Boost 1.65.1
Platform: Linux 4.15.0-23-generic x86_64, 64 bit

Please check that you do not have any user scripts in your ~/.kicad_plugins directory

gdb wouldn't open that core on OSX. Do I have to be on Linux for it to work?

gdb doesn't like it on Linux either. Given the size, I suspect it is truncated. Tom is running Ubuntu 18.03, so if he has wx-based user scripts, he may be crashing due to the GTK2/GTK3 wx conflict.

Yep, removing the .kicad_plugins folder fixes this, probably because of a gtk version conflict between kicad and wxpython.

Can I ask a bonus question: is there an easy way to get a working wxpython on recent ubuntu?

The easiest way right now would be to compile your own. But I think we should talk with js-reynaud about adding one to his PPA.
