I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron and Open Office 2.4.1 (openoffice.org-core 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2) and experiecing the above described issue. The leyend cannot be resized, if you try to do so It will only move. No way to modify the size of the leyend. Also, It doesn's even adapt to the text size and some text is cut into two lines.
I do not quite well how launchpad works, I understood, by the former lines of Chris Cheney, this would be treated on the version 2.4.0. Am I right?
Thanks

The bug is still there in 2.4.0 and is likely in 3.0.0 as well since the upstream Sun bug shows that it is still not fixed.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.

This is:
- a clearcut upstream issue
- wishlist/feature request unlikely to be fixable with a simple patch
- wont be fixed in libreoffice packaging
Resolving as WONTFIX in libreoffice packaging. This does not mean the issue will not be cared about, but if it is cared about (even by Ubuntu/Canonical contributors), it is done upstream at LibreOffice.

This bug was filed before the changes to Bugzilla on 2011-10-16. Thus it
started right out as NEW without ever being explicitly confirmed. The bug is
changed to state NEEDINFO for this reason. To move this bug from NEEDINFO back
to NEW please check if the bug still persists with the 3.5.0 beta1 or beta2 prereleases.
Details on how to test the 3.5.0 beta1 can be found at:

I see Legend resizable, for example in spreadsheet sample of bug "Bug 47394 - EDITING Document mode icon for write protected documents does not enable editing of objects" <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=58537> (after write protection has been disabled).

@reporter:
Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem still exists with the current stable LibreOffice version (3.4.5, 3.5.1 or later).
