The brightness of the notebook does not lower or rise with the FN key. Acer Aspire 5742 i3-380m 6gb ram ssd kingston 120gb.

1-in previous versions if it worked, install ubuntu 18 and it does not work.

Brightness and other custom keybindings are the responsibility of the kernel. Although in some cases a BIOS update helps too.
