Bug Description

After a default install of 18.04 Ubuntu Mate, all windows are difficult to resize with a mouse or trackpad. It seems that the resize "hot" area is only one pixel in size.

I'm fully able-bodied, but find this difficult to deal with. I'm not sure how anyone with impaired mobility or a disability would manage.

oldrocker99: Any chance you could make this bug as also affecting you please so that it gets confirmed?

There are a few workarounds (such as switching to Compiz), but really in order for Ubuntu Mate to gain a greater user base minor bugs like this shouldn't exist and/or need workarounds. Having done a little more digging on this issue, it appears to have existed for quite some time:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/metacity/+bug/160311
https://superuser.com/questions/1012464/mate-how-to-increase-window-resizing-area#1027320

Seems strange that it has existed for so long, is causing obvious user interface issues (especially for those with impaired mobility or sight), and hasn't been fixed.

Cheers,
JT

Thanks for writing this. As the creator of the linked video I obviously find this kind of thing to be frustrating and wish that someone would address it.

Exactly the same issue for me too (youtube video above is perfect example). .MATE 18.04 fresh install, seems ridiculous for this to be the "out of the box" behaviour and for it to have lasted so long :(
