Bug Description

Whenever LibreOffice Writer is launched, it does not load and a crash report appears.
And if it is launched via the command line, it doesn't even show any info or error message.

The LibreOffice base and Calc opens OK though.

System info:

OS: Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 32-bit
PC: Sony Vaio VGN-FE21H

That's very likely a duplicate of bug #1699772.

To confirm this, can you run the following command in a terminal:

    sed -i '/enabled/c\<enabled xsi:nil="false">false<\/enabled>' ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/config/javasettings_Linux_*.xml

Then execute libreoffice writer and let me know if the crash is still happening? Thanks!

Well it works perfectly after that !
It just outputs "Warning: failed to read path from javaldx" in bash.

Great work :)

Thanks for the feedback Matt. I'm marking this bug a duplicate of bug #1699772.

For the record, the command you ran disables the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in libreoffice, which is known to cause crashes on 32bits processors. Some functions of libreoffice won't work without Java (the most visible probably being libreoffice base), but most of the office suite should work just fine.
