Issue is likely nouveau. Installing proprietary nvidia drivers, everything works fine after nvidia mods are loaded

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v4.15 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

It would be best in the Ubuntu installer image. Is there a way get an ISO build with 4.15?

I just tried it with the latest download from the main page. And it seems to have issues displaying 3440 x 1440 @ 59Hz/60Hz. It can only display it at 49Hz.

However, at the login screen, it will display, by default, at 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz, so there is no display shown.

On Windows 10, there is no display issues at 3440 x 1440 @ 60Hz

setting `nomodeset` in the grub kernel line allows it to display in a lower resolution
