All I know is the firefox quantum will not not load as I get taken to file manager and have no clue what any of it means or how to use any of it.

Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. The 16.10 release reached EOL (end of line) on 20th July 2017, over five months ago. Please refer to this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases.

Please use only supported releases of Ubuntu when reporting bugs.

Firefox 57 is currently available from the repositories of all currently supported Ubuntu releases.

Please upgrade to or install a supported release. If you are still having problems with Firefox 57 then please let us know.

My computer is all up to date and upgraded, with firefox 57 as part of
the package.
