Bug Description

When upgrading to Gutsy Gibbon, the default kernel from menu.lst is:

vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-386

When I boot with this kernel, the network interface on my Dell Inspiron 530 is not recognised.

booting from the generic kernel fixes the problem:

vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic

This is the lspci output concerning my network interface:

00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82562V-2 10/100 Network Connection (rev 02)

Thanks!

Have you checked to see if your NIC works on the Gutsy Live CD or on a CD installation? The network problem might have arisen because you upgraded - a process known to cause many problems.

I have not tried the Live CD or a CD installation. The problem began
after an upgrade from Feisty to Gutsy using the Upgrade Manager GUI.

By switching to the 2.6.22-14-generic kernel, the problem is fixed.

Would it help you if I tried the Live CD on the same system and let you
know the results?
