Bug Description

In answer to case [ 1591386 ] Perspective 2-point and 3-point grids; and
Inkscape 0.45.1 (current version), files are included to strengthen my
point. (I couldn't add them to his list?)

.
Perhaps it's useful to be able to import embedded objects (ole's as it's
called in Windows), or a (feathered) portal? For a 3D programme (like
Blender) & Anti-Grain (I am so impressed). Perhaps it's useful when
implementing Tavmjong Bah's idea. Excellent!

I've added some examples of what I mean, in the files list, as influenced
by Tavmjong. (Thanks for those files, and its accompagning proposal.)
Perspective change was done with the Gimp, matrix was (roughly, I retraced
it)
 -0,000599 8,4e-005 1,27
 0,17 1,01 -178
 0,142 -0,445 1,05e+003

Yours,
Bass77

Happy developping!
A screenshot of The Gimp is included, as are the (low-resd:) source files.
(It's a CD front by the way, 12x12cm)

Files included:
collage (low-res).zip (I've edited the svg file, export to zip didn't work
(yet)
Screenshot the Gimp.jpg (as persuaded by horkana, thanks)

Hope it's helpful. I'll learn from the response.

I seem to have missed Dmitry's Perspective extension
(see PatchesTracker 1600298, and InkscapeManual » 17. Effects » Modify
Path, Effects-Perspective)

Well done. But I'll leave this post, because support is needed for (I
think):
direct text as well as path based transformations (obviously, may not be a
priority),
editable text which remains editable (may not be a priority),
a place in the main interface (it's now under Effects)
matrix editing (see the Gimp screenshot of a matrix)
Anti-Grain integration (see trans_curve2.exe example), Blender
(responsive, feathered?, backfiring ;) portal/ole, bidirectional
(egg instructions/requirements as seen from (in) Blender, and the
output/results as seen in InkScape) (Just a thought, but it might work)

As of Inkscape 0.92.2, there is no tool to add perspective distortion to a single object (like a hexagon). The "Modify Path->Perspective" is not fulfilling that task IMHO.
The transformation dialog offers move, scale, rotate, shear, and matrix, but no perspective
(I'm afraid the average user cannot compute the values for a transformation matrix in the head, and even if, it would not be much interactive)
I've see the enhancement request for interactive shear also. I think both should be implemented.
