Bug Description

I'm running Ubuntu Budgie 17.10 Beta 1 on my MBPr.

When I change the scale of my VirtualBox display to 200%, everything seems to render fine except the main menu (top-left corner circle triggered).

The menu glitches by cutting out a small chunk of it and rendering the rest invisible/transparent.
I attach the screenshot.

Please fix, if possible.
Thanks!

Please test with a live USB to see if this is virtual box specific or not

Not specific to virtualbox, same on Live USB.

I found a semi-workaround: running "budgie-panel --reset --replace &" after changing scale fixes the issue (but of course the panel settings are lost).

hmm -

budgie-panel --reset --replace & basically writes lots of dconf
settings for budgie.

ok - lets try to pin this down

take a virtualbox snapshot

cd /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/

sudo nano 15_budgie-desktop.gschema.override

remove ":Budgie" from [org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings:Budgie]

CTRL+O to save, CTRL+X to exit nano

then run sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

logout and login.

Does this fix the issue?

If it doesnt then remove all ":Budgie" from the files

15_budgie-desktop-common.gschema.override
15_budgie-desktop-environment.gschema.override

then run sudo glib-compile-schemas /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas

logout and login.

Does this fix the issue?

Ok, it turns out resetting budgie-panel is an overkill - simple "killall budgie-panel" fixes it too. I think the panel just need to be re-rendered after scale change and is not doing it fully on its own.

BTW, fossfreedom, could you remove my email address from the previous message? I didn't realize it pastes it unobfuscated if you respond to an email notification.

Lucas, can I know what you are using as your video card? nVidia, AMD, Integrated (If intergrated, what cpu)?

So, as a side point, is Lucas' observation in Comment #5 above (about potential privacy problems in repsonding to email notifications of bug reports) a bug in itself? It seems to be a significant flaw to me...

Is this still an issue?

I can still see the scaling option on the machine I mentioned before and it appears that the problem with scaling has been fixed.

Everything renders fine now!
