Import of .dxf R14 (which is output by Inkscape)

Inkscape is a very useful tool for producing PCB outlines for insertion into the Edge Cuts layer in pcbnew. However, KiCad cannot import the DXF files Inkscape produces.

Because there are many DXF variants, it seems that it would be good if KiCad could also support importing graphics in SVG format directly. This would make the task of importing graphical elements such as complex board outlines drawn in external packages very much easier.

Inkscape 0.92.2 appears to save as R14 .dxf

Please find attached 'pcb_outline.svg' and 'pcb_outline.dxf'. The latter fails to import into KiCad with no error message.

How I know Kicad support only DXF R12 format for import.

Maybe the bug should be renamed to 'pcbnew: import DXF R14'

Inkscape can save both, R12 and R14. Have a close look at the export menu and pick the right format. Don't use the "guess format from extension" because then inkscape may assume R14.
