Bug Description

This would help to integrate inkscape into Windows
domain software distribution systems.
There are some free tols available:
And a reference to the bugtracker of the scribus system

Please make this in addition to the current Windows
installer, otherwise this would have a negative effect on
some Windows users, including me.

While the department where I work currently uses Inkscape,
the company's IT department has all PCs configured to
disable MSI and refuses to support any non-Microsoft
software. Departments are allowed to install other apps, can
only do so if the app uses an .EXE installer file.

We, the users, like Inkscape a lot. Thank you.

Patches welcome.
Inkscape would welcome more developers providing a variety
of different kinds of installers to suit other special needs.

I cannot seem to access the inkscape-devel mailing list
archivers at the minute but the message was cross posted to
the scribus list so here is a reference

pretty lame what people consider "security"

Given that NSIS is used by the very popular PortableApps.com
I am sure there will be enough demand to keep the NSIS
version around.

I have evaluated wix and wix-edit and I think I can create a simple installer.
I do not know how to make one installer that contains multiple lanuages instead of one installer_en and installer_de etc.
Help welcome. Adib.

Is there any movement on this? I am the IT Director at a school, and I would love to offer this software to our students, but I do not have the time to walk to every workstation and run the installer. We use group policy deployment with msi for just about everything else.

Hello will_in_wi, there is currently no development in this direction. :-(
Do you know a tool to create those msi packes? Any experience? Do you have any requirements on such an msi installer (admin/user mode, links on desktop, etc)?
Thanks, Adib.

I have very little experience in creating msi installers, perhaps if I get some free time I will look at it.

Thanks!

@suv sorry for delayed answer.

At the moment a basic featureset is implemented: selecting location,
selecting different content.
I have not tested silent install. And Win7 install where you have admin
rights (I only have win7 with no admin rights- it asks me for UAC)
Currently you can not select individual translations and the installer is
only in english.

I would like to have (more) feedback. The snapshots are available via
