Bug Description

This happened in both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the present 17.10 alpha. And it always occurs on the Dell Inspiron N7110 I am using to test with, after I update the packages on the system.

On my MacBook (2008, Aluminum), I don't get a crash, but I can no longer change the screen backlight or keyboard light with the keyboard or the slider in Power Management.
